Overview

The college library is an important hub of campus life. Here, you can check out books, conduct your research, find a quiet place to study, and maybe even flip through a magazine. What’s more, today’s college libraries extend their reach out into the Internet, making many services and resources accessible right from their websites.

Although the University library is still in its infancy, over the past year aggressive efforts are underway to make the Library a center for learning, information and resource.

General Library Rules 

  • All students must register to become a library member in order to avail library resources
  • Student Identity Card is required for getting access to the library
  • All students must sign in the Sign-In register kept at the circulation counter before entering library
  • Silence must be maintained at all times
  • Discussions are not permitted inside the library
  • No personal belongings allowed inside the library
  • Textbooks, printed materials and issued books are not allowed to be taken inside the library
  • Using Mobile phones and audio instruments with or without speaker or headphone is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  • Books and other materials which are being taken out of the library must be shown to the staff at the circulation counter.
  • The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately.
  • Library borrower cards are not transferable. The borrower is responsible for the books borrowed on his/her card.
  • Refreshments of any kind are not permitted anywhere in the library premises.
  • Students are required to handle the books/ Journal with care.

  The following are strictly prohibited:

  • marking with a pencil
  • writing or highlighting on the book
  • tearing the pages or mutilating the book in any other way 
  • The above offenses will be viewed very seriously. Borrowers and readers will be held responsible unless these are brought to the notice of the library staff at the time of issue.

Hours of the Library

Open on all working days.

Monday to Saturday 9 am to 5 pm.

Circulation Rules

Books will be issued only upon presentation of the Student ID card. Students must check the books they are borrowing for wear and tear and bring it to the notice of the Librarian. They will be held responsible for any type of damage or mutilation to the book at the time of return.

Lost Book

If a book is lost the borrower can either (i) replace the book of the same edition or latest edition or (ii) pay double the cost of the book.

No Dues Certificate

Each student shall obtain no dues certificate from the library only after returning all the books issued and after paying all outstanding dues, if any.

Reference section

Books within the reference section cannot be checked out. They are strictly for reference purpose and cannot leave the premise of the library. Other than reference textbooks on various topics and subjects, the reference section includes Encyclopaedias, and Dictionaries as well.

Renewals

Two weeks renewals are permitted if the book has not been requested by another reader. There are no renewals on reserve materials. You may not renew a book if it is more than 5 days overdue. You may renew books in person at the Circulation Desk. Books cannot be renewed over the phone.

Overdue Charges

Materials borrowed should be returned on or before the due date stamped, if returned late overdue fine will be charged for the delayed period.

  • 15 days Rs.1/-day
  • 16-30 days Rs. 2/-day (from 1st day onwards)
  • 31 and above days Rs. 5/-day (from 1st day onwards)
