The Zoology department was introduced in SRM University Sikkim in the year 2018 under the School of Basic Sciences. The Department provides new dimensions in the field of Zoology with an interdisciplinary approach. The syllabus and curriculum is prepared according to the UGC prescribed formats. Unique to the curricular are some interdisciplinary modules along with some applied modules. The department has started with 3 years B. Sc (Honours) program in Zoology. In the near future M. Sc in Zoology and Research Works will also be started. It the goal of the department to emphasize teaching as well as research programs in equal measure.

The University is well equipped with sophisticated instruments and laboratory facilities. TheZoology department consists of well qualified teachers having good academic qualifications and research experience in the field of Zoology. The entire campus is Wifi enabled offering 24hrs internet connectivity. The University also offers smart class rooms –complete with audio and video connections. Every classroom is equipped with projectors. A central Library is located in the University main block consisting of latest books by renowned Indian and foreign authors. It is the aim of SRM University Sikkim to deliver high-quality education at undergraduates and post graduates levels.
