About Us

The Office of the Controller of Examinations shall be responsible for maintaining the standard of all the University Examinations. It is the duty of the office of the Controller of Examinations to arrange for preparation, scheduling, conduct of University Examinations, arranging for valuation of answer scripts and all other incidental matters connected with the conduct of examinations.

The other responsibilities of the office are:

  • Processing and publishing the results in time.
  • Issuing of certificates like Statement of Grades/Marks, Consolidated Statement of Grades/Marks and Provisional Degree Certificates.
  • Providing Transcripts and Migration Certificates.
  • Publication of rank lists and Medalists before the conduct of Annual convocation
  • Conduct of the Annual Convocation as and when the Chancellor directs and issue of Degree Certificates to all the qualified students of University Departments and Award Degree for the students qualified.

Regulation

Under Graduate (UG)

The complete Undergraduate programme of study will consist of 3 categories of courses distributed over six semesters with two semesters per year as listed below:

  1. General (G) : General Courses comprising of Languages, Communication Skills, Soft Skills, Environmental Studies, Verbal Aptitude, Personality Development / Professional Ethics, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning and Extension Activities (NSS/NCC/NSO/ YOGA)
  2. Basic Sciences (B) : Basic of Computer Applications with laboratory component (other than Computer Science Department and Mathematics).
  3. Professional Courses (P) : Professional Courses corresponding to the Branches of Study, which will include Core Courses, Electives, Industrial Training and Project work.
  4. Non-Major Elective (P) : Each department offers specialized courses (Non-Major Electives) in Semester III and Semester IV which can be chosen by students belongs to other departments.
  5. Every branch of the Undergraduate programme will have a curriculum and course content (syllabi) proposed by the respective Boards of Studies and approved by the Academic Council. Credits are assigned to the courses based on the following general pattern:
    • One credit for each lecture (L) period;
    • One credit for two or less tutorial (T) periods;
    • One credit for two or less laboratory/practical/project/seminar (P) periods
    • Theory based courses are that with ‘L’ & ‘T’ or ‘L’ alone or ‘T’ alone.
    • Courses with theory and practical components are that with ‘L’, ‘T’ & ‘P’ or ‘T’ & ‘P’ or ‘L’ & ‘P’.
  6. Courses with only practical component are that with ‘P’ alone
  7. The curriculum of any branch of the Undergraduate programme is designed to have a minimum of 120 credits for the award of the Undergraduate degree.
  8. The medium of instruction, examination and project reports will be English

Post Graduate (PG)

The complete Postgraduate programme of study will consist of Core, Supportive and Elective Subjects distributed over six semesters for MCA Programme and Four Semesters for MBA Programme and MCA (lateral entry) programme with two semesters per year.

  1. Every branch of the Postgraduate programme will have a curriculum and course contents (syllabi) proposed by the respective Boards of Studies and approved by the Academic Council.
  2. Credit system helps in mapping the academic achievement of a learner in a fairly accurate manner. This helps the students to understand the academic effort one has to put in to successfully complete a course. Credits are assigned to the courses based on the following general pattern:
    • One credit for each lecture (L) period;
    • One credit for two or less tutorial (T) periods;
    • One credit for two or less laboratory/practical/project/seminar (P) periods
    • Theory based courses are that with ‘L’ & ‘T’ or ‘L’ alone or ‘T’ alone.
    • Courses with theory and practical components are that with
    • ‘L’, ‘T’ & ‘P’ or ‘T’ & ‘P’ or ‘L’ & ‘P’.
    • Courses with only practical component are that with ‘P’ alone.
  3. The electives chosen by the students from the curriculum shall be offered, provided that a minimum number of students, to be fixed by the department concerned registered for the same.
  4. The medium of instruction, examination and project reports will be English

Under Graduate (UG)

Each semester shall normally consist of 75 working days or 450 hours.

A student is ordinarily expected to complete the Undergraduate programme in six semesters for regular programme. However a student may complete the programme at a slower pace by taking more time but in any case not more than 12 semesters under regular programme excluding semesters withdrawn on medical grounds Temporary withdrawal from the programme .

Post Graduate (PG)

Each semester shall normally consist of 75 working days or 450 hours.

A student is ordinarily expected to complete the PostGraduate programme in six semesters for regular programme. However a student may complete the programme at a slower pace by taking more time but in any case not more than 12 semesters for MCA and 8 Semesters for MBA and MCA (lateral entry) under regular programme excluding semesters withdrawn on medical grounds Temporary withdrawal from the programme .

A student may be permitted by the Dean (Academic) to withdraw from the programme for a semester or longer for reasons of ill health or other valid reasons. Normally a student will be permitted to discontinue from the programme only for a maximum continuous period of two semesters or the aggregate of individual discontinuation not exceeding two semesters.

The examinations shall ordinarily be conducted between November and December during the odd semesters and between May and June in the even semesters. The maximum marks for each theory and practical course (excluding the project work and Viva Voce examination in the final semester) shall be 100 with the following breakup.

Passing mark : Under Graduate(UG)

A candidate shall be declared to have passed in each paper / practical / Mini Project and Viva-voce, if he / she secures not less than 40% of marks (the continuous internal assessment (CIA) and the University examinations (External) put together), provided a minimum of 40% of marks secured in the University examination. If a candidate fails to secure a pass in a particular course, it is mandatory that he/she shall register and reappear for the examination in that course during the next semester when examination is conducted in that course. He / She should continue to register and reappear for the examination till he/she secures a pass. However, the internal assessment marks obtained by the candidate in the first attempt shall be retained and considered valid for all subsequent attempts.

Passing mark : Post Graduate(PG)

A candidate shall be declared to have passed in each paper / practical / Mini Project and Viva-voce, if he / she secures not less than 50% of marks (the continuous internal assessment (CIA) and the University examinations (External) put together), provided a minimum of 50% of marks secured in the University examination.

All assessment of course will be done on absolute marks basis. The internal marks awarded to the students are combined with the marks of their end semester examination. Subsequently letter grades and grade points are awarded for the marks as indicated below:

Class / Distinction will be awarded to the students after they successfully complete the Programme as per the norms stipulated in the following table:

A student shall be declared to be eligible for the award of Undergraduate degree if he/she has

  • Registered and successfully completed all the courses and projects as per curriculum
  • Successfully acquired the minimum required credits as specified in the curriculum corresponding to the brand of his/her study within the stipulated time duration
  • No disciplinary action pending against him/her

The Academic Council of the University reserves the right to revise or change or amend the regulations, the scheme of examinations, the curriculum and the syllabi from time to time if found necessary.

Case of Malpractice Punishment
Appeal /threats/bribe offers to the Examiner, Use of abusive obscene language or Threatening remarks in the answer book etc.
  1. Particular subject will be cancelled.
  2. Fine will be imposed.
Writing of Candidate’s Name/ Register Number in papers other than in the earmarked spaces / any other special marking, using colour pencils, or sketch pens or shades / Tearing off or spoiling the stationary supplied by the University.

Carrying or possession of material relating to examination / writing on the desk / any part of the body / writing on scale, calculator, handkerchief, Hall Tickets or any other electronic storing devices like electronic watches with memory calculators, walkie-talkie sets, mobile phones etc., into examination hall.

Manhandling / injuring personnel connected with examination.

Impersonation – Students on the roll

  2. Debarred for three years (both impersonator and beneficiary)
Impersonation in the case of past students or outsiders

  2. Debarred for three years.
Tampering with Hall Tickets/ Certificates
  1. All examinations taken up in the session will be cancelled.
  2. Debarred for One years.
Insertion of additional sheets, graph sheets, drawing sheets, use of answer books which is not issued at the examination hall.
  1. All examinations taken up in the session will be cancelled.
  2. Debarred for One years.
Possession of Mobile phones, Digital Diaries, Programmable calculators etc. in the examination hall.
  1. The particular examination will be cancelled.
  2. Question of returning the confiscated mobile phone or any electronic gadget will be decided on case to case basis.
  3. Fine will be imposed.
Destroying or attempting to destroying evidence Pertaining to the malpractice.
  1. All examinations taken up in the session will be cancelled.

If reported case of malpractice already exists against the candidate and again indulges in malpractice (Not a first case)
