Overview

SRM University Sikkim (SRMUS) will introduce Ph.D Program (full time and part time) beginning from August 2017. The Ph.D program is designed to equip scholars to be researchers and specialists in the field of Computer Science, Management, and Literature. The objective of the program is to guide scholar in an innovative way to become the top-class researcher in various fields of study leading to Ph.D degree.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria

  • 1.Candidates (Faculty members) should have at least 2 years of service experience in SRM University Sikkim.
  • 2.Minimum academic qualification required for admission is that the candidate should possess a Post Graduate Degree recognized by the respective statutory regulatory bodies for pursuing research.
  • 3.The candidate should possess at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalents grade in PG level.
  • The following categories of applicants are exempted from appearing the written entrance test but will have to appear at interview - Applicants who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGCCSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/or have passed M.Phil. Program.
  • The eligible candidates need to appear for written entrance test, followed by the interview, the following day.
  • The application along with a non-refundable fee of Rs.1000/- (Rupees One thousand) only in the form of demand draft, payable to SRM University Sikkim should be submitted by 1st Oct. 2021.

Ph.D. ADMISSION (2021) DETAILS

1. ELIGIBILITY

  1. Minimum academic qualification required for admission is that the candidate should possess a Post Graduate Degree recognized by the respective statutory regulatory bodies for pursuing research.
  2. The candidate should possess at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalents grade in PG level.
  3. Candidates (Faculty members) should have at least 2 years of service experience in SRM University Sikkim.

2. Ph.D. ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

  1. Applicants fulfilling minimum eligibility criteria as specified in the SRM University PhD regulations 2016-17 shall be required to appear a written test followed by an Interview (Research idea and Presentation).
  2. The following categories of applicants are exempted from appearing the written entrance test but will have to appear at interview - Applicants who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/or have passed M.Phil. Programme.
  3. Syllabus of the written test

    a.The syllabus of the written test are as follows. (Full marks 100). Questions of the written test are MCQ type with four options. Each question will carry 1 (one) mark. Time duration of written test is 2hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes).

    Research Methodology 50 marks
    Subject (NET syllabus for respective subjects) 25 marks
    Policy Implication and its Social Relevance (Subject Specific) 25 marks


    b.Interview (Research idea and Presentation) -100 marks. The interview will be organized by URCC and the candidates are required to discuss their research/area through a presentation before URCC or a committee duly constituted by URCC. The committee also consider the following aspects at time of interview- whether the candidate possesses the competence for proposed research, the research work can be suitably undertaken at the university and the proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.

  4. The merit list shall be prepared taking into consideration both the written test (50% weightage) and Interview (50% weightage) in the case of who are not in the exempted category. The candidate who are in the exempted category mentioned above (clause-2), only interview score will be considered for preparing merit list.
